I'll be returning Sat PM as well. I'm all for circling the wagons in Tyson's Corner to get our gaggle together and then head up the road. We don't have to eat, just meet and go. What say we set a firm launch time of 0800 from TC?

I used to go to Valley Forge a lot for work and always got off at Rising Sun, MD, over to Rt 1 and up through Kennet Square. Nicer drive than I-95. If Kerry is just off Rt 1 that'd be an easy trip. 'course that was about 18 years ago...

And let's not forget our radio/walkie-talkie sets. The wife got me a set for Christmas last year after the fun run last fall so I'll have one to spare. Anybody want to pick a freq?

Just about a mile off RT1. IIRC you can see it (RT 1) in the last e-mail I send you guys.

If you do decide to go RT 1 and need directions from RT 1, let me know. Sometimes the directions want you to do a "U-turn" to take the kennett Square exit. This is not needed and is a PITA. I will map out the easy way off RT 1 for you.

Cheers

Yes, the Rt 1 alternate directions would be nice to have.

Thanks, Kerry!

I am planning to come - one of my biggest problems is lack of 5th gear - I'll have to hold my shifter in 5th for much of the trip if I don't get another tranny in there next weekend. The other is getting a babysitter for my boys and lastly is getting a follow vehicle in case of the worst (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif)

That was my tangent - I guess route 1 is same posted speed as I95 ??

RT doesn't have the same POSTED speed as I95 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Also, I am hoping people will bring their family (not all of them just a selected few). We have a 21/2 yr old and toys to suit. There is room to run and nap.

Hope to see you there (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wavey.gif)

Yeah I tore it down to replace some parts and reseal the case. Have all the seals and gaskets and jig for the stacks if you all could help a brother out. Email me if you all want to do it and who can meet up with me in Leesburg Tuesday or Weds next week to pick up the patient.

Damnit, "help a brother out " is 914 speak for "freebie." (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

It would not take long to assemble. If it is there, it can be done with instruction.

I'm in the Leesburg area and could meet you next Tues or Wed to get your tranny. Send me an e-mail at: jrowe at verizon.net and we'll work out the rendezvous.

You're kidding right? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)
I thought this was a cookout, not a tranny freebee rework session. Dr. Evil offered up a tech session and that's really cool! Hard to believe you want him to commit to assembly of your's. Hell, I've got 2 sitting here (a tail and a side shifter) if Dr. Evil needs a tranny to demo on. No commitment either? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer.gif)
Besides didn't Kerry already say he had a tranny for the tech session?
The only thing I'm commiting to is ---> (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif)

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

I do have a spare tranny for the tech session, so we are covered there (syncro change). We also have an engine drop and clutch work as another tech session.

The tranny session was just going to be an inside look at what it takes to do a 1-2 syncro change. I full rebuild session would be nice but I didn't want the guys to spend 4hrs of the cookout working on a tech session.
The engine drop and clutch work is a bigger tech session but the owner of the car has offered to do the work and have us laugh...HELP... him through the process (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

I am sure if time allows the tranny will be looked at but the main purpose of event is to have fun and make fun of people (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif): ) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Again, the tools ( I think I have them all) will be here and I am sure the tranny will be looked at but no 100% guarantee on a complete assembly

Cheers

Do I have a commitment that it would be assembled?

Since it is not my crib, or my event I can not commit to anything. However, what I was trying to offer was that I could give you tech advise and that you could assemble it in no time. Sorry if I had any ambiguity in my coment. Also, I do not always get the notifications of responses to the threads here so it usually takes me a while to post. Sorry again if this aided in confusing anyone.
What I am understanding is that my part will include the changing of a 1st gear synchro? From a tranny that is out of a car? This process is quick and painless (I hope). If there are more synchros to be replaced, the whole stck will need to be pulled and dissassembled. Quite a different opperation and much more time.

I am willing to rebuild trannies for some $$ on the side so if you need one done look me up.

Yep..Tranny is out and mounted on an bench top engine stand. It's alittle dirty but workable..

If you have a deep 30mm please let me know. I haven't been able to locate one around here. I am sure I can get one in Philly if needed...
