The part that comes to my mind would be the one under the rocker panel, there are 3 or 4 of them along the lower long. They are like braces welded in. Other than that, I have no clue what it could be. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)

It looks like a replacement part for the center tunnel. If I had to guess it looks upside down from the picture and runs from the firewall near your feet along the center column towards the shift lever.
