Looked at the tires on my 914; while they have lots of tread left there are cracks all over them so time for new ones. Tire Rack only showed 1 tire available in the 165/15 size that's on the stock wheels now - what are folks using these days? Car has original 4 bolt Mahle wheels if that makes a difference.

I got a set of Vredestein T-Trac, 165/80R15 from http://www.tires-easy.com/ about a year ago. Reasonable, $78/ea.

Happy with them so far. I chose the more modern Vredesteins over the more period-correct classic tread.

195/60 will have more choice and are close to the sr78's that came stock in rolling diameter.

Will the 196/60 ride appreciably rougher than the stock size? I will use the 914 for pleasure drives; mostly concerned with a comfortable ride vs max handling. I've got other cars to go fast in; the 914 is for cruisin.
