Great find! We really need a sticky thread for people to post their original invoices to. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) |

Working on it has been slow due to other commitments. Removed bumpers, rockers, and valances, for some minor straightening, and paint. No surprises so far. The black isdealer applied undercoat. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Great buy. Love the project you can have that running before the 12th and bring it out to G&R. Brakes fuel. oil lights trans oil and go. Make sure to remove all grounds and clean along with clean all electrical connections you can get to.

Leamon, I'm hoping to pick your brain on the 12th. See ya there.
Dave, retirement is great, although my wife doesn't seem to agree with my new hobby. I'm probably going to miss her. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Still disassembling, No rust surprises yet. Spending hrs and hrs cleaning off undercoating. Apparently undercoaters back then thought it was ok to spray susp, axles, trans, underside of engine, etc. PO had installed stainless heat exchangers, nice. I moved to Florida in 1979 and thought I needed undercoating on my car - went to Ziebart and watched them do it. The highly trained Ziebart technician (said so in their literature) had what looked like a power washer wand and stood under the car and blasted everything |

Had some time today to tinker with her. With a little cleaning, adjusting, and starting fluid, got her running. Ran her on jack stands just long enough to check all the gears. 5 forward, and one went backwards, I think that's good, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) No idea how old the gas and other fluids are, so that's next along with all new lines, and rubber. Is there anything specific to a 1.8 I should check? Also needs a battery tray, and about a 1" dia hole repaired below the tray.

I thought you lived in Australia, since the pictures were upside down. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) haha! No, the sheep shaggers are New Zealanders, sometimes known as Kiwis! |

Got the engine compartment cleaned up pretty well. Found some additional rust below the battery tray, way down where the fuel pump and filter are mounted. Still not bad though, sorry can't get an angle for pics. My son is a great welder and says no problem. Also got to the pedal cluster. Floorboards are great, pedals look very good, but did install a new gas pedal. Tomorrow going in for a valve adjustment and brakes.
