Brant,
I made one of those from an old case a few years ago too. The problem with adjusting it outside of the case (or with the facotry jig for that matter) is that it wants to flop around and doesn't stay securly held the same way that the case does. I've got a design for a jig that holds everything together just like the trans case does, but the cost would be to high, and cutting a trashed case is way cheaper. |

Very nice pictures ! Always wanted to see what is inside the tranny.
Can you describe, using the pictures, what goes awry when the first tries to jump out gear ? I would like to know more about this problem before I visit the tranny shop. |

Here's some new images taken Sunday with a tripod of a transmission in the jig. It shifts from neutral to fifth.
This one doesn't jump around...... Attached image(s) |

This animation is more accurate. It represents shifting with broken tranny mounts and worn out shifter bushings. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) |

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I tried to do it to the original pics but failed. But the tripod ones were easier to use. A few people asked for info on what each gear was and now they have it. Reverse seemed to be missing, so I hacked it together from other photos. And there seems to be missing a small gear somewhere in the 1/rev area, I think. Oh well... Maybe its just the angle.
Too much fun, |

The tripod pictures were taken of a transmission without a reverse gear installed . So the reverse idler was missing. I assumed that you used reverse from the other set of picts.
Good work! |

This is cool Clay. And I'd like to see the other animation as well. Hope it's being updated.
