I need to replace the bushings on my transmission mounts, but after doing a little research I realize, as usual, there are more options than my tiny mind can handle. The car is an AX/street car that I'm slowly modifying with AX in mind.

So far I've found what appear to be a couple of stock replacements at AA:

Anyone have any experience with any of these? Other suggestions? The car will still be used on the street, so am I right in guessing solid mounts might not be the best option?

I have the Patrick mounts. Easy to install, frankly I did not notice a difference between the old, worn out, dried out rubber old ones and new.

Personally, I would stay away from solid mounts..

Unless you like checking torque of the mount bolts and everything else every 5 hours.

iMHO: good stock mounts work well for everything but the most extreme.

The stock mounts should work fine. In my conversion car with a large -6 and a 915 transmission, I went with the WEVO mounts to try to help with shifting (minimize any movement at the transmission), and have been very happy with them. Whether they are worth the increased cost is up to you, but I think they're a great alternative.

I ran solid mounts for about a year. Then changed big black plastic blocks sandwiched between aluminum bosses. Several things to report on the experience.

- I think solids are too hard on both (unmodified) mounting points and the powertrain
- If you really plan to run on the street too and your sound deadening material (~45lbs in my car) is gone prepare for huge noise
- I also had to re-torque the mount bolts often, especially with the large black plastic units because they would constantly compress. When I called the manufacturer they said they'd never gotten any complaints like that before... right. I have no data to prove it but that I was the only one to experience compression is unlikely.
- There was no shifting difference between these and what I've described below

I've used Porsche 911 "sport mounts" since I bought the car. They're the same dimensions as normal 911 mounts but are stiffer rubber. They were used on Cabriolets circa 1984 - 89 as well... maybe earlier, I never looked into all of the applications.

I'm not near the computer that has those part numbers, but a quick internet search or a call to Stoddard's or Rich Bontempi in Redwood City, California will solve that... or someone here will tell us!

Oh yes, of the three you listed the Wevo would be my choice, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Porsche sport mounts are nearly as stiff.

There are better places to get things than from AA. That being "pretty much anywhere".

The sport mounts are pretty good for street cars. A bit stiffer, but they still keep the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) down. You may have to tweak the mounting points on the chassis just a little bit to make them fit nicely, but that's not a big problem.

I liked the sport mounts. You can also elongate the holes on the sport mounts if the holes don't match up perfectly. I am currently running the wevo mounts. I also installed a 916 gear box and thought they might help with the shifting. But since I also went with heavier springs in the rear I can't tell if it's any better.

+1 on the 911 sport mounts. you might have to elongate the mounting holes a bit. i'd rather spend more than what ** might be asking rather deal with them. try GPR (member vendor) or Pelican.
