After putting my car back together after a five year restoration, my turn signal indicators do not turn off automatically every time. I have tried loosening the long pan head screws for the turn signal indicator stalk to the point of almost not holding everything in place. The turn signal stem seems stiff and does not move as freely as it once did.

Is there an adjustment, lubrication or something I am missing?

Make sure the switch is all there. Plastic pins break or fall out holding return spring in the center of the switch. Put some lube on the switch with everything looks good. NOS switch picture for reference.
