A couple of years ago I sold a '57 ghia that was rotted into the ground, to a guy who needed some of the parts.
He asked me how much, I said $800 (expecting him to haggle) and he didn't bat an eye...just forked over the cash. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |

i love ghias! i would love to find one like that.
back in 1983 i almost bought a '69 ghia, red. instead i went with then-newer-and-i-thought-more-reliable '79 rabbitt. yep, i have made some dumb car choices in my day... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) i don't like to talk about the 3/4 ton 1979 gmc suburban. what a pig it was... Sweet Ghia. Its amazing that Ghias have better sale prices than our beloved little teeners. I always wanted to make an outlaw type ghia. Something understated, tasteful, light and fast. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
I changed to the 914 (this was prolly 10 years ago) when I realized that it had all of the things I wanted in a ghia from the performance perspective and was cheaper. Best of luck with it. Keep it stock and you will have yourself a nice little payday. |

Man there's one around the corner from me that has had a for sale sign on it for ever. I think it's priced at $1800 but has not moved in a some time although it looks like it was definately a runner recently. Bet I could get it for a song. I may go talk to the owner after reading this thread..I've always liked them and the idea of an outlaw might be cool. Maybe in Satin Black?
