I need to have a replacement section of jack plate welded on. I have the parts, I have removed the rusted section (still need to clean up the cut) I have order my POR 15 (can't find it here, anywhere) but I do not know how to weld (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) (yet)

I would gladly buy dinner / (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer3.gif) / pay for your time. I'm sure I could take it to a local body shop but I would rather give someone here the $$. I live in Portage Indiana, so is there anyone with a hour or so drive from here that could help?

Thanks

PS pic of repair needed. I need to square up my cuts yet.

One more question. When I go to square up my cut do I need to remove the lip edge of the old plate before a new replacement section can be welded on? I can't get the cutoff wheel at the right angle, should I use a grinder?
does it matter?

This is what I am talking about.

Garold,

I can (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welder.gif) that in for you, but you will have to get it REALLY clean first.
