Easy to know the total volumes manufactured, by model, year and market.

Have we yet had a thread where we have tried to estimate total number of cars surviving?

Anyone fancy having a stab at helping me fill in the red question marks below?

If someone wanted to take the time you could count the numbers n the 914 Vin database here on the world.

Vin Database

just took a quick look and so far we have listed:

70 - 1518
71 - 823
72 - 1294
73 - 2138
74 - 2461
75 - 1269
76 - 644

Now not all of these are still around anymore, that would take time for someone (not me) to count how many have been destroyed and re-work the above numbers.

What we do know is:

1. Approximately 83,000 914s came to the USA, the rest were ROW market cars.

2. Approximately 25% of the 1974 LE cars survive per the LE Registry.

3. If that is any indication of a pattern, 25% of 83,000 914s survive in the USA or ~ 21,000. as a ROM. And that 21,000 would include any 914 chassis operational or not, as long as it has not been destroyed.
