well, here goes nothing. I'll post a ton of pics and ya'll can let em fly. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chowtime.gif)

this is my saturn yellow 1972 914. I replaced teh shift bushings. it shifts well for a tail shifter. 1st synchro is fair but time to flip it. replaced all teh fuel lines with german fuz-line. I drive it every day. heres a little story I typed up about the cars origin
Helga’s husband as an aniverary present purchased the car new in 72. 14 years ago he died and, unable to cope with the memories, she parked the car. It was in a car port covered with boxes, yard tools and a dog bed. The Chihuahua dog lived on the hood for the entire time till he died. I had seen the car 3 years ago before I moved to National City and asked her to sell it to me and she said NO WAY. She told me the story as if her man had just passed away that year. 3 years go by and I moved to NC. Helga had noticed me driving by her house in my white 74 914 for the past 2 years. One day she flagged me down to tell me about the car. As soon as she saw me she remembered me from 3 years prior and told me she was ready to part with it.
Oh yeah, about the car right…LOL. It is a 1.7L D-Jet fuel injected type 4 in completely stock condition. It starts right up every morning and idles smooth. She bucks a bit under light acceleration when cold but by the time I reach the freeway that goes away. Under heavy acceleration she pulls smooth and strong (for a 1.7) I get about 28-30 MPG. Engine never smokes. I need to check the compression to see were that is. The car has been my main transportation for about 7 months now. The tail shifter box is in great shape. I have been on dozens of 100+ miles trips and it runs great. I just posted pics on 914.com showing the shifter bushing changes. I changed EVERY bushing in the shift mechanism. The shifter is worn but Dr Evil has a nice 911 unit for me to replace it. RUST…of course it has some but not in the usual places. The rust was from where the dog pissed on it. Dog urine is very corrosive. The battery tray is intact. It even has original paint still on it. The chassis under the battery is also very nice, better than average for a Southern CA car. The longs are solid. One of the jack points has some rust , again, from the dog. I just had the car painted. This is the cars first re-paint since new. Original color is Saturn yellow so I stayed with the original color. We used Acrylic Enamel single stage. Although this is not as good as Urethane, it is not crap. From 10 feet to up close, the car looks nice. The paint is very smooth and creamy. Most of the rust has been eradicated. The rear bumper is straight and most of the chrome in OK. There is some surface rust on the chrome where the LC plate resess bends inward. The front bumper WAS perfect until last month when someone backed into it. I replaced it with a painted bumper that from 10 feet looks OK but it needs some love. The dog pissed on the corners of the window and rusted up the cowl joint. This has been cut out and new metal welded in place
Interior: the dash has one small crack above the ash tray but that is the only one. The brown int is in fair condition and looks presentable. The back pad is nice. The L seat has some wear the right one looks OK. The bottom seat cushions are well worn and ugly. All the seals were removed for the paint job. The big expensive targa seal is TOAST. Outer door seals are OK. Inner door seals are toast. Rear targa seal is shot
This is a daily driver, reliable transport but it IS a project. It is a worthy car. I recommend asking a third party from the board to look it over after you see the pics. I live in San Diego so I know there are several 914club members that could come see it and report. I would like to hear what they have to say about it good or bad. If you do not buy it, I will continue the resto until it is in a higher price bracket then EBAY it. If you buy it now, you will save me that time and save you the extra money. All the difficult and expensive work is done. I would like the money to finance my 73 2.0 track car that is very close to completion. If you don’t buy it, come to the WCC and see it in person. Come to WCC regardless.
Feel free to ask anything about the car. Don’t be shy. You may call me at home
