Pulled the 1.7L out of my 1972 914 the other day to chase down some issues ive been having trying to get the engine to turnover properly. and being the freedom loving harley davidson riding american i am (also with constant shit getting i recieve from my roommates) we've been throwing the idea of using an Aircooled V-twin 100cu in plus Harley engine as a powerplant to reduce weight and add power and i can't help to ask why haven't i seen this yet.
so far our idea is build a Flange on the Crank that bolts to an aluminum flywheel then the 914 transmission... I'm open to ideas and criticism... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif) Attached File(s) Porsche_engine.htm ( 328.58k ) Number of downloads: 55 |

Something like this:
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/cdn.rideapart.com-1143-1444349677.1.jpg) That is a Toyota Prius with a Harley motor in it. They call it a "ToyoHog Hybrid-Davidson". It was built for the 24 hours of Lemons racing series. It is the slowest, loudest thing on the track. Here is a video of it running. We were there watching it race. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK2AxFpOh14 Fun idea, but if I remember right, it kept eating clutches. |
