I was talking to an acquaintance recently about 914/4 colors as he's pursuing a 914 which was originally white. I don't recall white being a factory color and just checked the 914World spec sheet as well. Could it have been a "Custom Porsche Color"? If so, what was the white color called?

Ha, sure. I overlooked that one. I was looking for "white".

He mentioned "Biarritz White" come to think of it. Anyone heard of that one?

I remember "Biarritz White" as an early 2000s color for the 996 and Boxster. What's the color code on the plaque in the driver's side door jamb? That will tell you exactly what the original color of the car was. "L98" or possibly "L98K" would be a custom color, as I recall.

Light Ivory is not a true white.

I have seen very few cars with the orig. L80E on them.

It looks freakin bitchen done with fresh black valances and new trim.

Both of those look like possibly "Grand Prix" White (grandprixweiss)
I think the paint code maybe 908
Used on 911 models around mid 70s
the 914 was the Light Ivory L80E....
sometimes depending on the light it shows up a little more white

Light ivory is the only "white" that I know of that was ever offered as a standard color on the 914.

True white has never been offered on any car, as technically it is impossible to obtain in the real world, as is black. True white is the combination of all colors and true black is the absence of all colors.

Geek stuff aside, I think that light ivory is probably about as "white" as you would want to go and still have a good looking 914.

I dunno. When I am in a white car, I kinda feel like I am driving a big bathroom fixture.

I felt L80E was much to beige for my taste so I went with the 2010 Pure Whiite on mine.

Bill, I love the white interior!

Thanks for the replies...plenty of white (L80E) cars out there...I kind of like that look.
