The problem with the application of these products is the amount of labour is the same as a full paint prep. My first suggestion was derived from the experience of circumventing the cost of clean rooms for the CMMs that we use in the machinetrade, large ones,on the order of 10M. A pressurized tent was used to keep things clean, dust free.A small version,to contain a 914,with a minor pressure could stop the rust until the worker is able. |

This fella has a solution to the problem.http://www.duroair.com/,a smart cookie.
The hassle we went through to achieve these results in '97 was huge. The product is exactly what we envisioned, derived from an indoor pool enclosure, also retractable, from '67---60' X 24'. Our application was different in that the particulates were fine metal and airborne, messing with the CMM,generating massive repair bills. A cleanroom for paint curing, opening up the booth for the next job, many different uses. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=269152 A rusted 914 you say?Completely normal,a 914 in it's natural state. Kick some ideas around, stimulate a better mousetrap,or in this case, rust inhibitor. |

Old school Porsche mechanic I talked to recommended spraying veggie oil into rust prone spots. Apparently he did it all the time with old 911s (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)
Might be hooey.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Oh yeah and: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) I agree, why wait. The fun is in driving these cars. But if you must, at least set aside a block of time to properly deal with everything you can see now. Pull the rocker covers and spot blast the surface rust, treat with metal conditioner, epoxy prime and top coat even it you use bomb can enamel for now. Chances are you will be much happier 5 years down the road when your ready to dig in. But I'm warning you, five years from now you will be kicking yourself for not getting into this car sooner. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/MDB2.gif) Drive it like ya stole it.
Oh, Don't judge the car by the lowly 1.8. Do the 2056 and you will be much happier. |

Thanks Mark,thems are it.
http://carcapsule.com/ Electrically inflated, with oxygen bearing air, allowing the continued corrosion of the Porsche. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Place a large bottle of welding CO2 inside with the car, attach the pressure regulator, sensors and solar battery charger. Return from your 5yr sea voyage, unzip and begin the long repairs.
