Chuck up the axles on your drill press and wet sand to 8000 grit, its like velvet. Watch for the castings near the head.
Next take the wheels and put them in a vice on your drill press. Find a wood dowel that barely fits in the hub of the wheel. Soak one end of the dowel in water, dip it in graphite and chuck it up and polish the inside of the hub, you will leave graphite in the plastic. Chuck up the wheels next andever so slightly shape them so only the middle touches, I hink 600 wet sandtakes it back to original shape. Be careful not make them too convex. People catch that one. Balance the car so it only rides on 3 wheels. Use a dowell to balance it forward, back and left to right. Sink yor big weights deep inside the back of the car, about 35% back. Fishing weights work great when balancing the car after that, you can drill them out to get to exactly the right weight and they are easy to place in the car. My son and I had a ton of fun with soapbox. Have fun and good luck (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) |
