Hi folks,

I'm going to look at my first potential 914 purchase this coming weekend and I'd like to be well prepared.

Can you direct me to a list of good online 914 FAQs, Buyer's Guides, etc. to help arm oneself?

Thanks.

Karl.

PS - This is the car I'm going to see - http://www.westcoastautosport.com/docs/car...car-in00134.htm

PPS - Just as an FYI, I've compiled a list of resources for 944 owners at http://www.weissach.net/924-944-968_WhereT...nformation.html

Just look at the top of the page at the 914info tab.
Looks like a decent car for $5000, always look for rust esp under the battery tray ie the Hell Hole!

If it looks as good in person, snag it. Hopefully one of the NorCal gurus will jump in here and go with you to take a look for the usual suspect areas.

Hope you get it, but if not, hang around anyway. We are equal opportunity offenders here (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Doh! I've been lurking on this forum for ages and never spotted that tab...

Thanks.

There are a couple of articles on the Bird site that can also help.

The Pelican Parts 914 buyer's guide:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/How_to_buy_a_914.htm

The 914 FAQ (now somewhat dated, but still lots of pretty good info if I do say so myself):
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/9...Darling_FAQ.htm

(Shaddap, Rusty--I will get around to updating that thing, I really will! ...Sometime...)

I have been looking myself. I made a excel spreadsheet that helps me review the car when I see it in person.

I gathered the info from 914 club, Pelican parts and a few other sources.

It has saved me from spending money on a PPI (pre purchase inspection) for a car I would not be interested in.

It helps me, I am a rookie but it should help.

Send me a PM with your email and I will send it to you.

Patience and being fast on the good cars, seems to be what works.

Should be in your inbox Karl.

Good luck and post your car when you get it.
