Please forgive me, I'm new to all of this! Group: Members Posts: 1,846 Joined: 3-April 17 From: Los Angeles, CA Member No.: 20,991 Region Association: Southern California |
I ordered mine on May 10th and called on Friday to check on status. They told me that black plates are taking 16 to 18 weeks now. Still waiting on mine, ordered on May 6th. Also deciding on whether to switch over to a set of period correct Blue & Yellows though. |

I had ordered replacement black ones, like I have now... 7T PORSH ... it showed up without the space between the T and the P. They made excuses, I "talked to managers". HA!
Ended up not accepting them and sticking to my older white plates. Got a refund 6 months later. Pfft! Damn DMV |

Sucks on the foul-up, but cool on the refund ... I thought I had read the fee was non-refundable (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I thought I had read the fee was non-refundable (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Maybe when they are new designations but mine was a "replacement" for the white plates. I would have had to turn in my white ones. The black ones didn't have the space and there were yellow paint runs....unacceptable so no go I keep the whites. I have a source that can turn a new flat white plate into a stamped blue and yellow one. Going to run mine through...just takes 6-8 weeks....so DMV screwing up actually turned to my advantage... |

Love the personalized 914 plates and went so far as filling out the DMV paperwork on line, but when it comes time to pay California's B/S yearly fees for these plates it pisses me off plus the fact our *%#}%<> governor just doubled are DMV fees again i just can't make the purchase.

I'm only doing the personalized plates for one car. I've put three motorcycles and three cars on non-op because of Sacramento. The year-round insurance deal originally prompted me to non-op the motorcycles, but the increase on all of the vehicles is taking it's toll ... some are going to get registered in AZ, where the cost of registration and insurance is a lot lower. Also, I don't have to smog the vehicles in the county where my place is. Fuch CA's politicians (IMG:style_emoticons/default/finger.gif)
Let's see who's old enough to get this: "Funding that train, sure is a pain, case in point, you better - watch your change ..." |

Sounds like something from the 40's/50's. Remember "MTA" by the Kingston Trio. Governor Moonbeam doesn't care the cost. |

As far as California's insane tax grab, the people don't know what is going to hit them soon. DMV fees are going WAY up and an additional $.12 on gas taxes. Diesel prices up too, the truckers will go nuts and prices of trucked goods of course will go up.
Governor Brown was the worst leader we ever had in this state and the voters saw fit to put him BACK in office. The new gas tax scheme will not go over well once it is implemented. |

And God forbid if Prop-13 gets overturned.
Our tax dollars pay the salaries of shyster lawyers who try to pick apart Prop-13 every single day they're at work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) |

Have been contemplating moving out state for a while now. Maybe that'll push me over the edge. That or the push to secede and become the "D.R. of California". |

Been here since 1956. If Prop-13 goes away ... so will a lot of taxpayers. It will adversely affect everyone.
Homeowners will have to bite the big one, or try to sell their property (quickly), and landlords will have to hike rental rates to cover the tax increase. Good luck selling a property if the tax rates increase 3 times higher than the current rate ... who's going to buy into that? Also, business entities will have to increase their costs, or leave the state. It's a no-win situation. |

I have the original blue plate on my '72 but have no front plate which is technically illegal in California. Anyone know of anyone that can duplicate the rear license plate There a at least a couple of vendors on ebay that sell personalized plates. Technically, they're not 'legal', but the appear to look real, so I doubt they'd get notices as fakes ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)http://www.ebay.com/itm/Retro-Vintage-Cali...I8AAOSwLsBZS3mM Thanks for that EBay link. I purchased a set. The guy had them made the next day and sent me pictures to confirm that's what I wanted. They look exactly like the originals in the picture he sent. |

It would be nice if he could stamp the recesses for the month and year tags though.
Would be nice of I could get away with displaying black plates with the #s that are currently on the blue plates my '66 912 has (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I wonder if the law-enforcement agencies would even question that they weren't 'real' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |
