Took The Strenger out for it's monthly exercise today and saw a street sign that caught my eye. I drove to the Dead End and never saw anything that resembled a hill (Tampa, FL).

Steve,

Love your car one of the greatest 914-6's ever built, for those that do not know this is the famous Eric Strenger 914-6 M471 GT that did factory photo's for the 914-6 GT's and lots of other things.
I was fortunate enough to see it at the Okteenerfest in September in Banner Elk, NC.

Also on a side note, Steve please PM me as I have a special hat for you and want to send it up to you.

Thanks,

Yo Paul.....It's been a long time. Hopefully we can get together in 2016. I've been remodeling bathrooms for the last 3 years with a partner but as of a week ago last FrIday, I retired again. It was just taking up too much of my time. Not to mention, it was a lot of hard work for an old guy like me.

... and to boot, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I'm sad to say that even living in the Tampa Bay area, I've only met Steve twice. But he, Paul and TC always treated me like family even though I never had a car as cool as theirs. Very pretty Steve - I had not seen pictures of the GT till now. Excellent question. The earliest know photo's of this car are dated May of 1972 and it had the stripes at that point. Other sources like the Nurburgring photos and the photo in the Brian Long books and Christophorus all show it with the stripes. But most of all, the fact that during Eric Strenger's 16 year ownership, this is what it looked like, including when he first purchased it.

Thanks for the info...who is Eric Strenger? Never heard of him...other than your car is named the same. Looks like a stunner - if you come back to Octeener Fest next year I'll look forward to seeing it (and more importantly, meeting you)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
