Apologies, explanations and such
So, I had several long talks with some new friends and even did a bit of late night reading. I have come to realize that I haven't acted the way I should. Please forgive me of my errors. I meant no harm. Yes, the avatars and signatures that I had chosen in the past had been in a passive / aggressive nature. I won't promise that they won't return, but I'll try to keep things to a minimum. I chose them out of rebellion against the few more colorful avatars. So I offer a truce; I won't post mine if you don't post yours. I found out that you need to be logged in to TURN OFF the avatars, signatures, pictures and such. Sorry of I'm being vague, but I don't want any problems with using certain peoples names or a difference of philosophies. That, I hope, covers a few recent posts. Now for my painting projects. I have a lot of backlog and I'll try to get to everyone in the fairest and fastest manor. I fail constantly by taking on more than I should. I want to please everyone, so I don't say no. What I will be doing in the future is to try to explain better the amount of 'work' I have preceding a new order. Please keep in mind that I'm doing the best I can with the time I have to spend on this 'hobby'. Below is a list projects. If you placed an order for some paint work and don't see it here, please remind me. If you have paid already, and don't see your order here, please YELL at me. In my recent fits, I deleted my entire PM files and most of my home emails. Also, I know I promised a few members some freebie 914 CDs. Please remind me of those too including your address' again. If anyone has some idea on how to keep track of orders, I'd love to hear them. I also need to work on some sort of receipt system and maybe expenses. Is there a computer program for this type of thing. This hobby is becoming more business every day, so I guess I should start treating it as one. Again, sorry for any hassles or hard feelings that I may have caused. Orders: Mike Rose: Posters - Shipped today Repaired Tee - Shipped today RC 914 - In Progress - Masked and some design Nuked shirts (3?) - to be started Chris Foley: Tee Shirts - 4 more shipped today - 43(?) to go Ed Secrest: RC 914 - Completed - Not shipped RC Squished Beetle - In Progress - masked and designed, needs paint. Immanuel Church: Coffee Shop Banner - Not Started DuckRyder: (3) RC Shells - Haven't even opened the huge box yet. John Peterson: Full Face helmet - Not yet recieved Howard: Moby Dick on? - need to nail down some particulars. Peace, David |

Allow me to step in where I was not invited. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif)
A Christian avatar posted by you or a set of boobs posted by another member are both appropriate for this forum. They equally represent the person making the post. I hope you will continue to frequent this site and produce your art. I also hope some of the others who may not agree with your beliefs, will not be so quick to be cruel in their responses in the future. Now on to business - Is my helmet project on your list? It will be several more months before the 2005's are available. Would you like me to send a deposit to secure your services? |

There are tons of software for this kind of stuff. You could start with a basic excel spreadsheet where you enter all the pertinent data about the order. If you have Filemaker Pro you could build a quick database or buy a pre-built order/invoicing database. Filemaker probably even comes with a free one as a sample/template. I'd bet that you could buy the business version of Quicken to track orders/print invoices. There's probably 20 other solutions I haven't thought of. |

I think the definition of an avatar is very helpful.
People should be able to express themselves, no question about that and it’s a celebration of our diversity as a culture to know that people are different. Its one of the main reasons we love this forum. Only in America can we as a people enjoy the freedoms we do and generally that is a good thing. We all know that in private settings like two or three people, effectively there are no limits to what people say or do. Cool. But in most public settings, social rules are in effect, and it has never been acceptable behavior for expressions of fanatic religious beliefs, extremist expressions of nudity and pornography, or the use of the vilest profanity. To preserve the peace on this forum the thing we have to remember is that it is a public place and people from all walks of life are here, each with different values. The full spectrum of society is here from all races and religions, and all age groups and each with different values. Photos posted in this public forum including avatars, should be family friendly. The language used, should be family friendly. We should all know what family friendly means. If ‘family friendly’ is not the accepted standard here or something akin to it using other terms, then it is only a matter of time before the site will degenerate into even further extremes…in order for some to become more…expressive… Our admins do not want to be the morality police and if we all individually use common sense and behave, they should not have to be. Paraphrasing a recent post by admin Mike Ginter, getting along on this site is all about mutual respect for others. If we will just use reasonable discretion with sensitivity to others with what we post, the admins will be like Maytag repairmen… Those in favor say AYE? |

Hi Dave,
I'm not really a religous person, but I respect all of them, heck, I even have some muslim artwork/scripture hanging on a wall at my house near our Egyptian artwork....I had no problems with your avatar or signature or even you asking about a Christian based automotive club.......no need for you apologies....I say personal expression is a good thing...bring it back (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |

i beg to differ ... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) but that's the only "hickup" in a otherwise very agreeable post ... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) Andy |
