Well, I bought the parts. The list was EXTENSIVE (included below). I sent the list to several vendors. AutoAtlanta came in hands down the cheapest, over 10% less than the best price from all the usual favorites. 1750, shipped. This is a lot of money for me - heck, the Bumblebee cost less than that.

After a couple of emails with George, I decided to give them a shot. I talked to Bob on the phone. Nice guy who took the time to chat a moment, far from the brusque experience I had on the phone several years ago.

They said that most of the parts will ship Monday or Tuesday. I'll report back and let you know how this concludes.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Well they rarely seem to have trouble taking the orders and the money... it's in the recieving what you ordered where the problems happen. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

When you say "That's more then the bumblebee" do you mean project cost or purchase price? As I recall, the bee started out as just a handfull of iron oxide and a dream. Truely an amazing transformation.

Purchase price. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hey now... give the Bee it's props. It just wasn't iron oxide and a dream. There was lots of rivets and sheet aluminum, undercoating and gooey bondo, too!!

I'm dyin to find out if you receive that order in a reasonable time frame, complete, and without being gouged for extra shipping.

Do ya think it means anything that this is my 1000th post?

Hey Ginter,

George and I exchanged several emails. He was very clear that the price included shipping. All new parts. I'll call for tracking numbers on Tuesday or Wednesday.

No propaganda from him, just a guy that wanted to make a deal.

AA was the first vendor to return my email, and when a couple of part numbers changed (due to my lack of research), they didn't flinch from their offered price. On the other hand, a couple of other vendors didn't even reply.

I hope this goes well. If it does, it's great for me, and excellent (for us all) to see that AA is working to improve their questionable reputation in the past.

I'll believe it when I (you) see it. And maybe not even then.

So, I have to ask, what do you have planned for George when the deal does turn sour? Got a regiment handy? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif)

I wish you luck, Rusty. I'm doing so for selfish reasons though; AA has some stuff others don't seem to. They are also on the right coast, so shipping 'should' be cheaper and faster. Please keep us posted to your (their?) success.

Hey Mikey, I can't let your avatar go un challanged! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
