Such a Shame that these have gone up so much, that if you had one you would be afraid to drive it!

I think if I had a spare $100K laying around for a car then I'm not sure I would be to worried about driving it.

however seeing I don't have a spare $00K it would scare the crap out of me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

This shouldn't surprise anyone. Those that already have legit sixers will probably continue to drive them. Those that acquire them now for 6 figures are just adding them to their collection because it's the thing to do now...

"Described by the vendor as in generally good condition". Generally? WTF does that mean? For that kind of money it should be "perfect, needs nothing".

I got to say that I stopped driving my six for the most part because I got rear ended by a Hummer last year in my Acura on US 101. If I was in the six they'd still be pulling me out of it and it would have been completely totaled.

Although the value has increased a lot in the 25 years I've owned it I never thought twice about taking it out and driving it hard. With 50% of all vehicles out here SUVs and trucks I'm a little paranoid about my safety these days. Even the secret back roads are full of traffic now.

It's like my dad used to say, "There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots."

Ditto, but to the 2016 Parade and nix for the today part.
Same color too.
Beautiful car Mike !

Oh ! as for the Bonhams auction car, please look at the the right side sail trim/side trim fit and the battery cables and the carpets and the missing deposit/console and aftermarket air filters.
For this kind of money ? it should be alot better.

What's up with the metal panel hanging down below the ventilation controls?

Also, should there be euro tail lights and blinkers on a car with US side markers?

Nice car, but... (I can't help myself)

- I don't think that is OE carpet (looks like a cheap kit)

- weird panel hanging below dash

- need to glue up dash vinyl by radio

- looks like 15" fuchs to me (should be 14")

And... I plan on driving my 6 800 miles to the WCR.

OK - so it's an imperfect example in this collective opinion - not a 100-point PCA Concours car (do any of us actually own one?)

- if the market pays even the low estimate, all we "real-six" owners should be ecstatic

whatever the sale price reaches - it will temper the insufferably all-too-frequent posts "what is this car worth?"

Chang of lenses likely required to use/register the car in Europe which when I looked at the ad it said Belgium and was written in French

I'm pretty sure it's collectors with money. Enthusiasts bought these cars when they were cheap. They're enthusiasts, they didn't care that 914's or old 911's were just old cars. And they sure didn't become interested when they were all of a sudden selling for $100K, when they had a chance to buy one for $10K. It's money chasing a bull market.

Personal experience: My boss at my former job was buying any classic car he could get his hands on for the past few years. Solely because they were going up in value. He's a true-blue car guy, Ferrari's mostly, but if 914's and 911's weren't going up in value he wouldn't be buying. He was looking for a nice 914 whereas three years ago he wouldn't have denigrated himself to consider such a revolting thought.

Hence, the six figure 914-6.

No kidding! I'm seeing more of the Early 911S crowd here too. Nothing wrong with that! I used to hang there when I had a '67 S, but I like wrenching and driving these fun cars more.

You might call me an enthusiast, but I couldn't afford $10K back when Sixes were $10K. I think you may be generalizing your own feelings to the populace at large...

I do wish I could get a nice Six (conversion, ideally!!) for only $15K now, though. Now that I can actually afford that.
