ok, first of all, i have to say, im suuuuuuuch a moron. more about that later ...
Mark V: thanks for sending the hub. i tried it today, it would work (sorta) but it leaves the infamous BIG GAP. everything bolts on fine, but there's a gap of several inches. plus, the wheel comes WAY too far out, like right on my nose (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) soooo, can't use it, will send it back. thanks again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) and here's the solution: when i upgraded my steering column from '70 to '75 (?Mueller?) i had to take the whole assembly apart and switch the main shaft! and then of course forgot about it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fighting19.gif) so what i ended up with is a '75 steering column except for the shaft, which is still the '70. i had to do that so the rods would fit together without binding. my old MOMO still seemed to fit except it wouldn't slide down far enough to get the nut started on the thread. sooooo, i had a closer look today and it turns out the pastic cover at the end of the Hub hits the Windshield wiper lever. DOH, my '70 didn't have that lever and the therefore the cover was about 1cm too long. shaved it off and voila: the Hub & Wheel fit perfectly ... ahhhhh, i'm such a dumb-ass, sometimes ...
