(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif) Well, sounds like my inquiry about 3 / 4 months ago. One of the members responded with a " set of NOS USA " Just sold for $800. So you can extrapolate the target asking should be. |

They should be re-made and sold for about $80/pair. Anything more is too much.
Bdstone sold me a single nos one he had last year for $100. A very fair price in this market. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) No matter WHAT someone might be selling on the www, I see asking prices for an item range from under $100. to over $500. - for the same exact item. I guess some people pay those prices, but people who spend the time to comparative shop, win the game. |

Mark, remember a couple of months back I bought a set of NOS from another member for $450. I was happy to pay that for an item that's appears to be getting more and more rare.

IN all honesty,
I had looked at making these. There are 7 different molds needed to make these like OEM (without any shrinkage). The retail to support the manufacture of parts like this would be in the $175 -200 a set range, as there is labor associated to assemble and make them. Could be made overseas for less, but you do get what you pay for sometimes. |

Paid 200.00 for a set. One needed a repair. Craig at Camp gave me the section I needed for the repair.

Yes, and I'm still envious to this day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I know fortune befell me when I got those USA lenses. Just me, but I wouldn't pay $800. for a set of Euros (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

Supply and demands is the issue here, more importantly this is one part that is most likely broken, cracked and weathered more than many parts on a 914.
I would say the production of these was a lot less from Hella than the US spec ones going by the number of cars sold in the states. |

One of the best explanations around. ..Simple supply and demand, a business model. |

I get it, if someone desires to pay big bucks for something. "It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it" ...
So, does the supply and demand business model mean that if I had 10 identical items for sale at $50. each, when I get down to 5 items remaining, I should charge $100. each for them because half of my supply is gone? Supply and demand may be a business model that we've been taught, but in reality, I think it's just simple greed. It reminds me of when natural disasters have taken place and the hardware stores took advantage of customers who needed to purchase portable generators. The supply was low and demand was high, so a lot of the retailers jacked up their prices ... some by 1000% ... it was called price gouging. |

There are some crazy people out there!
One of these days I'm going to be tempted to start parting out my six and selling off all my NOS stuff too. At some point the pieces will be worth more than the entire car I think. I made a mistake of telling my wife about the latest asking prices for some of these parts and 914-6s. Now wants me to sell everything and remodel the kitchen. |

I gave my 20 year old son a heads up what to do and who to talk to if I'm gone suddenly. |
