Ok newbe question need some advice. Have some rest in the hell hole area. Looking for recommendations do I just start cutting this out? I was looking for replacement metal to weld in any recommendations? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

I think Resto primarily sells the just the major pieces (I have several of them). If you're looking to replace only the minimum amount of metal, fab it yourself or there's this: Maddog Hell Hole Repair Kit.
Problem is, there's likely to be more rot at this point inside the longs. Are the rockers off and have you looked at the points underneath? If you don't think you have major problems there then count yourself lucky and start planning how and where to cut just around that spot. You may want to do some searching here on the site. There are lots of previous examples of people repairing this area and also doing major work on the longs, which requires other considerations (like bracing the frame). Here's one example focused on just the Hell Hole: Hell Hole Repair. |

It does look good under the rocker pannels. I was looking to see if there is a pretty fabricated part that can get welded in or if it was patch work.
