In the browser, go to Tools/InternetOptions/Advanced, and find the checkbox that sez "turn on Java" (or something close to that); it's about a third of the way down the list (in IE6).

TIA

IE has a JAVA Runtime built in. unless your IE is VERY old ...

as said before, go to
"Tools/InternetOptions/Advanced" scroll down and make sure "JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled" is checked.

what exactly are you trying to do (with java) !?!?

you might alos have problems running java applets in your browser if you have customized your security settings.
go to
"Tools/InternetOptions/Security" and make sure all 4 options are set to "Default Level" ...

later,
Andy
