The cabin/ interior side of the cover plate, dig the Karmann coachwork badge>> found it at the L A. Lit show ยก
The alternator bump-out is not too invasive into the cabin.

I'm sure a good panel beater can heat + shape a cool dimple in this Alternator area for Clay (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

Marty,
The kit came with a little 70 amp alternator. That won't work for me. I have to have amperage to run the electric AC compressor. I need about 250 to 300 amp alternator output. I am not running a distributor on mine, so the alternator is going to be mounted way lower in the space where the distributor was mounted. If I have to, I can put in a dimple in the firewall to accommodate the alternator pulley. I am also going to run it with one v-rib belt rather than the second belt from the fan drive pulley, with an idler above the Clewett dynamic tensioner. That will make the belt run in a T path and keep t low to clear the firewall.

This is the alternator I plan on using...

400 amp, and a computer controlled regulator. It is a small case, so it should mount low in the distributor space.

Your quote is spot on. I am NOT cutting a hole in the firewall. I will dimple it to accommodate the alternator pulley, but NO HOLES.

Clay, make sure that the Clewett pulleys, belts, and their ratios are close to your horizontal fan specifications ; keep the air flow rates close/ or same as the Porsche design.
