Many of you may have heard about the new Ford GT-40 by now. Until recently Ford was still calling this a concept vehicle. This is the first article I've seen saying that the car will become a reality next year.

So how do you all think it will do compared to the other cars out there. I say its a bust since Chevy has the domestic "supercar" market wrapped up. Most Americans cannot afford a car like that and when a Corvette with a few bolt-on mods can be faster and you can 3 of them for one GT it doesn't seem wise for Ford to come out with it. Yes it looks nice and all, but guarantee you, you will NEVER see one on the road.
I think it will be a complete bust because of Ford's reliability reputation. If they decided to have them handbuilt overseas at the Jag plants then maybe I would reconsider (they might for all I know, not too sure). There are so many other better cars out there for that price and a Ford isn't one of them. Ford------- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pissoff.gif) |

Ford------- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pissoff.gif) The only currently made american car that I would maybe concider a "supercar" is a viper. Even that's a strech. I've seen F40's, F50's and 959's on the street around here.. I will gladly take a bet that I will see a GT40 too. 4 cayenne's passed us going the other way on our way to the movies sunday. -Aaron G> |

Well if I had the means, there is no doubt I would have one of them GT-40. or GT as ford is going to call them. I may even drive it to work on sunny days when the moon is blue on a friday. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
Who cares about fastest that car is plain cool (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif) |

like I say sometimes about SVT Cobras, they're still Mustangs. I do give Ford credit on the next generation Mustang. It just looks plain schweet, retro and contemporary. Thumbs up to Ford on the new 'stangs, god they're bad ass.
New Stang CoupeIt's back on topic the GT is ok but I would rather spend the flow on a Porsche and kick the tail out of the Ford, but that's my personal taste. |

I'd take the GT 40 over 3 faster Corvettes any day. I see a corvette about every mile I drive, and that's not a wild guess. I've actually counted corvettes per mile and in my neck of the woods it comes out to about 1 cpm (corvette/mile). How many GT 40's are you gonna see? Even Vipers anen't that rare, but a GT 40? That would stop traffic. Top end speed is nice but you couldn't beat the GT 40 on the cool factor with 20 Corvettes.

The GT is a nice looking car. Then again, if VW came out with a retro fastback I'd like the looks of it too.
At the end of the day, its just more lemons out of Detroit unless its a truck. |
