...and, at the time, I had no idea it was from the 73 2.0 I'd passed on buying to let someone else have the thrill of owning a 914.
Can you imagin my horror when I found out it was one in the same car. (poor thing burned to the ground) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
There were issues with the car but nothing that could have been rectified by a knowledgeable 914 person. I explained to the new owner that this was not a car that they would be able to jump in and drive off into the sunset until everything was fixed.
Well.... it don't need fix'n no mo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) ......bummer

another one bites the dust RIP

Good thing you passed indeed! Funny though, had it happened to "punkin" you'd have to re-name her to Jack-O'-Lantern

HAHAHA
I crack myself up!

Chris... Good one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yes, it was Melodys. I really feel bad for her.

We can become complacent to the fact that our teeners have the nickname of flamable 14's. I, for one, have a habit of opening the lid almost every time I start the car since I found the first gas leaks. Something like this really scares me. I wouldn't want to lose a car I enjoy & love so much.
This is a post to all to be carefull and not relax the thought that this can happen to your car.

Is it a total loss, Bruce? D@mn!

Sounds like the mechanic didn't check for leaks after he worked on the injectors...

Saw a burned out 914 in a junkjard once. I remember seeing the plastic from the dash switches melted and puddled on the floor. It had to be real hot. I wondered how the people got out. I pray everyone is OK with this one.

Since Melody is from Oregon, I would say the chance of two 914 fires in that state on the same day would be toooo coincidental.

Just looked at Melodys car. All I can say is WOW!
It was HOT. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) Tail lites might be re-used & 3 possible 4 wheels (Fuchs) Maybe... Front fenders. Don't know but maybe even the tranny. Kinda looked like the fire stayed in the cabin and on top of the engine, couldn't get a look under it. I'm sure there's a few salvageable parts but not much.
Father & son got out ok.

Glad they got out. I hope her insurance pays off well... If her purchase wasn't this car (Oregonian 6/15), maybe she'll want another??
