The GT project went on hold for a while but now that Ida's out of the garage it has a prominent place on the service roster.

Sunday was the big day. I finally got rid of the last bit of damage to the tub and welded on my final fender. Here's some pics that showed what went on:

Before. Checking the bumper fit and taking measurements That corner was in about 1.5", mostly on the bottom. Luckly the headlight bucket didn't need to be removed.

Front end is clamped and bolted in place to check final fit before it gets torn apart again.

I'm torn... I hate color changes but, Saturn Yellow hasn't been my favorite, especially when I had a Canary Yellow steed in the stable. Now that the Canary has flown the coup... Saturn may be OK.

Yeah I was lucky there. I was trying out my new Snipe program last year and I got 4 factory flares for $600. They were attached to some fenders (for the most part). I then went searching for a better tub to put them on. Brad had this one that tagged the front on a guard rail, over corrected and tagged the rear. Both the drivers front and rear were the flares that came attached to rather "complete" fenders.

They looked like they were off a factory car. Welding was "perfect" and all fill work was lead (as you can see in some of those later pictures).

Eric,

Your car is looking great, I am sooo jealous (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif). Where did you get the complete steel gt fenders, I was thinking about just adding the flares but your way looks better. I'd love to come buy and check out your car some time. keep up the good work (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) .

Ginter's car will be a rusty hulk again by the time this one's finally done (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I'm gonna tell Troy to paint mine "better" than his anyway... I really don't care what color it is as long as it's "better" than Gints (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/bootyshake.gif)

Plus... while his was apart, I put a bunch of nuts and bolts between the body panels. It's gonna be a rattle trap. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif)

Other than that... Naaaaa, Gint's gorgeous tub sitting less than 1/4 mile away doesn't have any affect on me. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)

Bet you could use a front trunk hinge bolt right about now...

I'm heading out to the shed now to get "the other one". (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Hey Chase (Skid),

I'll be out the weekend of 4/9-10 to pick up the tub. I'm not sure how far Highland UT is from Sandy, but you're welcome to come over and help bolt up suspension pieces. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer.gif)

No hurry... I have a bright orange one on there now (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)

Actually, I'm in need in deed but it can wait until you get here now. The hood just doesn't line up.

Do you have the suspension done? What's the plan? First I heard there was"work" involved (dirty little four letter word).

First of all, I found the other hinge bolt. I'm gonna mail it just to be sure you get it. Cause I still can't find the first one that I "put in a place that I wouldn't forget it". I can remember it all right, it's finding it that I can't do.

We're gonna have to bolt the suspension on just like we talked about last time. And it will be a "little" bit of work. I didn't re-do the entire suspension, but I blasted the contact points and will be re-shooting paint on them this weekend.

Shar just got another job offer today, this one for $5k MORE!!! I'm a happy man... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rocking nana.gif)
