looks clean inside and outside. If no major rusted metals the price is perfect!

Some extra info from the seller on my question if this engine really did 283000 miles (since it looks way cleaner than most engines and engine bays I saw before on the cars for sale):
Thanks for your email. The car has been maintained very well and never driven hard (I’m retired). I’m a firm believer of changing oil at 3k intervals which likely has a lot to do with its extended life. It leaks a bit from the speedo angle drive but does not burn oil. The engine was completely rebuilt around 30k before I purchased it. At 155K, compression was checked before removing the engine for an oil cooler oil leak. Only #4 exhaust valve needed to be replaced. Compression recorded at 120 lbs. on all cylinders upon reassembly. Hope this helps. |

That appears to be a very clean 914. The only things that jump out at me, and I am really digging here, are the steering wheel cover and tail pipe that needs to be replaced with a proper 914 tail pipe. I would add the black vinyl to the sail panels. All in all about 4 hours worth of work.
I would still put it up in the air and go over it carefully to make sure no hidden problems exist. |
