Despite the historical snafu of installing 916 styling bumpers on the '76 model.... are there any mechanical issues preventing their successful installation?

In contemplating a body restoration, I am finding it difficult keeping the '76 bumpers; they're just so unattractive.

All responses, whether fact or just personal commentary, are appreciated.

preventing? nah. you'll have to drill some holes and find or fabricate some "dog bone" spacers, but those tasks are minor compared with finding good glass that fits.

if anyone will have parts that fit, it'd be Getty or High Performance House.

i had a car with 916 front & rear bumpers, but they didn't grow on me. i think they look silly on 916's too - but if i had one, i wouldn't take them off...

it's your car, do what you want.

I kinda like the '75/76 bumpers. As long as the fog lamps are installed in the front. Mine aren't, but soon will be.
