Who has covered their dash top with a permanent cover, for example stitched leather, rather than replace the pad itself.

The piece is the long foam/rubber piece which skirts around the top of the clock fascia and along to the opposite door.

If you have can you post pics of what you have?

Also opinions on this method.

The standard dash cover which is plastic runs about $150. It does not look bad but it hard to not bite the bullet and do this right with the 914 Rubber dash. More money? More work? Yes but it looks great and you will never have to touch it again.

We have done the recovering in the past. It was exchange so we had to have a relatively good core, and would need to fill some cracks and grind. The french seal was sewn across the front and it would run about $360, so with shipping both ways you were about $500, not far off the price of a new one.
