Looking for some advice from the 914World brain trust.
I started my '72 1.7 yesterday, 1st time since last year, and there was a very noticeable bearing whine noise. Any ideas what could be the cause? Thanks, Mike |

May be the alternator shaft bearing, or the through-out bearing for clutch. If the clutch, the sound should change when running, and in neutral, start pushing the clutch in; as bearing is loaded, it will change pitch, or get quiet.

If it sounds a bit like a kazoo, could be the diaphram in the manifold pressure sensor...
