I'm sure a lot of you guy's have seen this, but it's news to me and I think it's pretty cool. Brian Miller a guy that posts over on PP is entering a 914 in this years Targa Newfoundland rally. Looks like the car is going to look pretty stock but is something special. He's got a Raby 2270C and Patrick Motor Sports are preparing the chassis.
Here's a link to the PP post. Here's a link to the guy's web page. This seems to me to be quite a statement about our cars. Here's a 30 year old car with some mods preparing for an endurance type of race. To me it seems kind of like the "Little Engine That Could" and I feel that an organization like 914world.com should get behind this effort. The guy is looking for sponsors, so, here's the question I have. Should we as a bunch of 914 enthusiasts get behind one of our own? I sure can picture a 914world.com sticker on that car. I'd like to see how people feel about this. I don't know Brian maybe some of you do and can chime in. From what I have seen it looks like he's going about this the right way. Dave |

This does sound so cool!
I wish I had the time and coin to do this, maybe next year now that I know about it. Newfoundland is beautiful and it has some major twisties. It's still quite far from me, I think it's about 1500 miles. My next-door neighbor’s are newfie's, incredible people, they love to party. It would be real cool if the club folk could do something major for 2004. Road-trip anyone? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/MDB2.gif) |

The show is still playing on SPEED but I already saw it several months ago. Looks like a fun rally. I wish I could go, at least to watch.

Tony of TCDesign finished a old BMW with a cage for the Targa. The guy was giving us the lowdown on the whole thing.. sounds like fun. I would be interested in doing it... but not in a 4cyl 914 (Make Homer Simpson voice here: BORING)
I think its neat that the guy above is running a 914 in it. As far as "backing him".. if he had come here first.. we could have jumped on the band wagon and gotten him some press/parts/money. Right now..we are not quite done with the Wheelchair fund. B |

Brad, when i brought this up my first thought was this is cool we should know about this. I haven't been around long enough to really have a feel for the priorities of the board with the exception of the obvious which is to enjoy these cars and spread knowledge. Certainly, the effort for Dave is a wonderful endeavor and I support it.
I suspect that the best way to support this effort is to do it individually, however, I thought it was appropriate to consider supporting it as a group. I plan to send a little something along with best wishes and I would encourage everyone to consider at least sending a word of encouragement. Dave |
