Just read a thread on the Pelican parts forum that Pelicans owner Wayne had his 914-6 stolen last night in Harbor City......close to LA. He hasn't posted a pic yet, if someone has one please post and be on the lookout.

I hate to say it but Blue6 is right. I too have been in that world for a very long time and departments are very aware of the impact their reported number to the Feds have on property values, both residential and commercial. So they play with the statistics and reclassify crimes to fall outside of the serious crime categories they actually are.
I remember back over 35 years ago when this first came to my attention and a local small bedroom community in the Bay Area that was experiencing a serious rash of auto burglaries, due to their proximity to an urban ghetto city, just reclassified them as petty thefts so they would not be subject to reporting. That was just the tip of the iceberg. When they realized that worked they started doing that with everything. Money talks in all worlds. Think about the current unemployment rate in the USA. If you believe those numbers are accurate..... |
