When I double on a on-line .mpeg file, (or a saved file) it will not play it on Windows Media Player. I have to right click and save it to a file, than right click on it and select "Open with" Real Player or Quick Time.
I've down loaded the latest update of Media Player, but no change. I have looked everywhere for some sort of defalt setting but can't find anything. It just started doing it out of the blue. Any ideas? Thanks, Paul |

the short answer is that your file associations have gotten munched by something. or that WMP can't understand the .mpeg extension - parts of MicroLimp are still living in the "8.3" days...
so - try saving it as a .mpg (no e) and the double-click *that* and see if WMP will light up for it. there are ways in Windows (not Internet) Explorer to adjust the associations, but i almost never go there so i'll avoid step-by-step directions that could mislead... |

Considering that most of MS's software is over-complicated, bloated and heavy, I would recommend switching to a lighter media player which will help make your car... I mean computer, faster.

Right click on the file and click on the properties. Click on the general tab and then the change button and then click on the player you want it to be opened by. Click OK at the bottom.
