I have another problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Besides this mystery oil leak http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act...t=ST&f=2&t=2839

My car is just cutting off. Its like it doesnt have gas. It will start right back up.

What should I check? And I cant find the fuel filter. Its not in hte trunk, under the car, or in the engine compartment.

so - any help is appreciated.

Extremely FRUSTRATED......... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Does it cut off after running for a while or what? By "cutting off" does that mean it dies?

Need a bit more on this one!

I had one that would warm up and then die when I came to a stop. It turned out to be stripped threds on the head temp sensor.

My 74 had a similar problem. I'm cruising and then nada. It sits a while...starts up and I cruise about a mile and nada again. It turns out my fuel tank was rusty and the sock filter was getting encrusted in rust pulled to it by the fuel pump. It would sit a bit and then the rust would settle and it would run again, but not for long. Stick a magnet in your tank and see if anything comes out. Good luck.

If I am driving at 40mph it spudder like it needs more fuel. And then when I come to a light, it starts to shut down, I will have to give it more gas for it to stay started. If not it will cut off. When i try to turn it over, it just spin, as if our of gas - then it starts. I feel that eventually, it wont cut back on.

Does that sound like the fuel pump? How can I test it?

I had the same problem not to long ago, car wouldn't run, would start up but would not stay running,, it turned of to be a bad relay to the fuel pump,, check your relay in the relay box.

Another thing you may want to try is the fuses on the relay board for the fuel pump Check and clean the contacts. This was what sidelined me on the first day of ownership of my current car. I had no idea why it was cutting out. I was rescued (over the phone) by someone who knows these cars quite well (thanks again, Brad). He said, "Roll the fuses in their holders. They tend to get corroded and cause fuel pump to cut off". I did that and haven't had a problem since.

I think its the head temp sensor! or the fuel pressure regulator. Is it a 2.0 with fi?
