Qarl,
I am really sorry about the car, I remember how excited you were to get it. On the positive side I am pleased to hear you are OK! Dan |

Good one Qarl. I was horrified at first. Brand spanking new, crushed on three corners, and it took so long to arrive. I have to be more on my toes today.

Well if it was true you'd have a great conversion project for a 914 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

They had to put those wheels on it so they could tow it and roll it around. (They're borrowed from another local Lotus club memeber Karl knows). The light mag LSS wheels (3 of them anyway) were cored like apples - hubs punched right out of them. This didn't just happen today. We were on the phone about it early yesterday (early for me - I'm on west-coast time). Karl is being quite mature about it. I don't know as I'd have held up as well emotionally. He's been through some rough stuff in his life and he's pretty tough for it. His big concren yesterday was that the insurance co. WON'T total it. It's looking about 50/50 right now. Either way he's out of a Lotus for at least a few months. I'm trying to cheer him up by saying it frees up time to work on the 914. He didn't think that was very funny.
Karl, check your PM's - I sent the contact info for Motocorsa in Portland. Ask for Arun (Tonkin). If insurance totals the car (as you implied you were hoping) Motocorsa bight be the quickest sourse for a replacement . Since they just signed as a dealer last fall they got several "extra" cars. There was a Safron (albeit non-LSS) car in inventory at the old MSRP as recently as last month. It might still be available. -Ben M. |

People, read what Karl wrote, and read what I just posted. The car isn't at his place. He was like 30 miles from home. They towed it to another lotus owner's house. They had to put 3 of the other guys wheels on the car to move it. The accident punched the hubs out of 3 of Karls wheels. -Ben M. |
