(IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) Dude, kudos to you and your humility/commitment. I'm scared what you think is fast if you think 156 is slow.

Its not like I didn't know this already (I did)...I was just pouring through the data log and am seeing first hand how pathetically slow I was approaching, going through AND out of corners. Whats crazy is what all the other yahoo's were doing (when I'm going so damn slow) - only a Cup passed or caught me in a corner. Allot of slow drivers out there...
The car will turn but once I get it to stop with confidence I can then start improving the cornering speeds. Work to do for sure... T PS: Chris - Dunno. I was hitting 131 (will be about 135-138 at next event with brakes. How fast were you going, as you recall? I have a drag car on a road course. Still fun though... |

Quit your whining Tony....at least you HAVE a car on the track to sort out!!
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) You know I'm just kidding (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif) Misery loves company!! I can't wait until we both get on the track at the same time and see how our cars compare. I'm SURE you'll have me on the straights, I MIGHT have a bit more grip in the turns...theoretically, we should have about the same lap times in the end...hopefully one day we will see! Keep at it! |

Could you tell the difference with the new shocks installed? |

Bob - Get you stuff together and come'on...regardless of pace, it would just be nice to see some teeners participating at the track. Obviously, you have WAY more mechanical grip, fancy shocks and better chassis....I think you should be TWICE as fast as me in the corners. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)
Looking forward to having you back with us... T |

Randal - Honestly. At the pace I was driving into and through corners it wouldn't have mattered. I can tell you the Rebel bushing kit is a dream and really quieted things down - suspension wise. I have their front system too but ran out of time to install them. Answer is really Yes and No. LOL

Steve - Thanks. I was referring to "slow" being in the and through the corners...this is all realative though, the only car to pass my slow butt in a corner was GT3 Cup. Allot of lowsy drivers must have been there this weekend! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
PS: I've been pouring over the data this morning and see predominately where I was lifting on the back straight. I want to be a part of the rare 160+ "club" at RA - I'll get it in 4-weeks, most likely! Jeez, I just love your car. Can't wait to see video once it is all dialed in and performing the way you designed it to.

Thank you. We'll get there eventually - basically just lengthening the straights (when there are brakes), carrying an average of about 10 more mph through the corners and picking up the throttle nearer to the apex.
Funny thing yesterday I was talking with one of our local members (John Jentz) and he was recalling how old Cam-Am cars used to drive (Point-and-shoot - aka: not turn to well) - and he said "you kind of have a Can-Am car there". He also called it a Rube-Goldberg build - that kinda hurt but he's also kinda of right... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Point of reference: My best lap Sunday was 12 seconds faster than the fastest 914-6 (full blown race cars too) at the Walter Mitty Classic the weekend before. As bad as I was through the corners late Sunday - there wasn't a 914-6 that matched my cornering speeds either. The more time that goes by from the weekend...the more positives I see from our first outing. For the record - "those" sixes don't have wings and splitters... T Jeez, I just love your car. Can't wait to see video once it is all dialed in and performing the way you designed it to. |

If you're trying to increase mechanical grip at the rear, you should increase the front anti-sway bar stiffness and/or reduce the rear spring rate.

550# - Thinking of going up...Racer Chris is suggesting down - time will tell. T Quick question, what weight springs do you use in rear? Thanks. Wow any advice for my 5.3 powered 914? I don't race but do a lot mountain driving. I have 180# with the spring on top notch to get my Ride height where I want it after swap. The ride is really nice but High speed corners +80 it just doesn't feel flat. I do run adj front and rear sways, bilsteins and have Complete chassis stiffening kit and rear roll bar. Thanks for any advice and don't mean to jack up your thread. |

Depends on what you have for front torsion bars. #250 to #300 is not too much for a street car like yours. Thanks!!!! Got any used ones? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I don't know what torsion bars I have..... |

If you're trying to increase mechanical grip at the rear, you should increase the front anti-sway bar stiffness and/or reduce the rear spring rate. Screwy reality of these cars.... Not sure what you have for springs, but if you are using the smaller diameter rear springs, they are fairly low cost, so having several different sets, and trying them all on the same day, same track, may give you some insight.
