have a bunch of used (ebay) wheels to check out before I mount some tires.

If I mount the wheel up and spin it, how much hop or run out is OK? I don't have a gauge or fixture so I'll have to rig something up.

take a spindle and hub setup, clamp it to a bench or table or in a vise, make sure it is square, use a magnetic base for a dial gauge with a dial gauge set on the rim and spin (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

ok then,

but the only spindle and hub setup I have is attached to the rest of my 914.

guess I'll have to do it on the car. I really just want to make sure they are not wayyyyy out.

HMMMMM Get your jack stands, put the car in the air, pull out the carpet and the back pad, sand down the rust spots and paint, check the susp, console, repair it, check the hell hole, repair it, check the longs, repair them, pull the engine and replace the leaky seals, replace the shifter bushings, then place your dial gauge on the floor and check the wheels for runout! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) Sorry I don't know how much is acceptible. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)
