Ok so things keep getting interesting. Anybody know about SK Tools?

Not sure what it will be but it seems like SK likes 914s!

Ok Got some good news!

SK will be sending some samples of their SK X-Frame ratcheting wrench. They are sending 10mm ones. Why?

You guys know that 10mm bolt that is used for distributer/timing adjustment which is in a difficult spot with limited space to move the wrench? It sucks trying to get that thing adjusted. My current ratcheting wrench's arc swing is too big to allow use. So I have a tool that is suppose to work but it rarely does.

The SK X-Frame has an extremely small 1.7 degree arc swing that looks to be the solution to this issue. SK is making make sure at least 8 people won't have this problem again.

Will at SK Hand Tool is also sending some other goodies as well.

Ok so once again Cleaning Systems, Inc. is helping us out!

I am a big fan of their Brake Dust Repellent product and their Release Cleaner.

This year With help from Tia, they are sending DynaShield® - Super Sealant & Protectant which looks really cool to me as a sealant and UV protector.

Also after the drive we all will need some CSI BugGoo® Insect Remover.

All of the products I have tried from CSI have worked exceptionally well and they have been a strong supporter of this event since the beginning. So even if you are not coming check out these US made products.

Just been going through the loot Bosch sent. Pretty sure that every 914 at the event will be leaving with new Bosh wipers.

Ok so maybe not a new engine but a heck of a bonus for attending!

Ok so engine is in and running! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Just have to button the heat connections to the heat exchangers, install the Dakota CHT, and make all of the standard after engine install checks. Then road test, retune MPS, adjust clutch, retighten everything, add new Targa roof seals, and figure out why dash lights quit working.

Oh and the standard clean and polish requirements.

Anyone else feel the schedule pressure?

Hey Mike,

Which of your recruited vendors supply brake discs and pads for 914?

A number of our supporters provide brake pads. If you know what you want Parogon, Stoddard, Ecklers, Pelican, Sierra Madre all provide pads. If you are not sure what you want you can't go wrong talking to Eric at PMB.

Mr Ken Fast continues to amaze me. He said he was making a few things for the show and this is what showed up today.

I have resisted temptation to "acquire" any of the Okteenerfest items but my commitment is seriously faltering on this one. Not sure one the count but pretty sure everyone is getting on of the "914" cut outs!

Well yes-!my car goes to the body shop Sunday night- this weekend a friend is coming over to help take bumpers off, - well you know - strip it down and remove window trim, they will begin the process but the paint will go on over the next 2 + weeks- supposed to be done by Monday before we leave for NC, I will have 2 days to put all the seals back on it , lights etx back on and in place rockers on and interior back in. Going to be some late nights that week! Feeling pressure for sure!

You win!

Spent some time in your town many years ago. Great place.

As a tip make sure you get a bottle of glycerin to lube any rubber parts that need to slide in. A bit messy at first but can be easily removed with soap and water and is unlikely to harm new paint.

Not only do I have to finalize the Okteenerfest shirt design which is just barely past the concept stage at this point (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) but I also have to design shirts for two other shows - a VW bus show happening the same weekend and an all VW show taking place the following weekend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I wonder what would happen if you soaked these new rubber parts in nitric acid then lube them with glycerin? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blowup.gif)

That might not be the way to make people feel good about following your suggestions.

My wife hates me!

Well maybe more correctly she is amazed by the number of boxes (and hates the space it is taking up) sitting at our house that are full of goodies for Okteenerfest.

At this point with still more stuff to come, I have over $7,500 of prizes from our supporters. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)

It is pretty clear that our sponsors are showing us how important the 914 is to them. So I encourage everyone, event those not going, to take a look at the sponsor list at Okteenerfest.com and support them as well.

If you have not registered, are on the fence, think your car is not ready, or even if you cant bring your car, this event is a great way to get information, see what others have done, and get some of those bits you might be needing to get your care on the road.

For those of you that are not coming, you can get Ken to make a book for you at his web site. Check it out at https://www.etsy.com/shop/sublevel27creative

Nice touch on the inside of the books!

I just got off the phone with the Best Western hotel - HQ for Okteenerfest. Our block of rooms has been released into the general inventory, but there are still just a few rooms left. So if you haven't registered yet, get registered and get a room reserved before they're all gone!!! I DO NOT want to hear the excuse that "I couldn't get a room" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

You've been warned... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)
