WTB: my mechanic suggested today that I buy (4) 1/4 inch, 4-lug, hub-centric wheel spacers. Just took off the old Dan Gurneys that came with the car and replaced them with 2.0L Fuchs. (175/65/15 Michelins) He also told me to stay away from the "universal spacers" so I'll follow his instructions.
If you have these spacers available for sale or know where I can get the set, please let me know how much you are asking for your parts. Thanks Steve H |

Why is he recommending use of any spacer? Is there really a problem?
Fuchs should not need any spacer with those tires. I put 205-50-15 on them and the clearance was tight. If they are rubbing the inside of the wheel well you may have a camber problem. The rear 914 hubs are not hub centric so they are going to center on the bolts unless you get Chris Foley's hub centric adapters. You are probably going to need longer (+6mm) lug bolts (43 mm) which i have never seen. I did not see any hub centric spacers in the Google search Mark suggested. Pelican has 5 lug 7mm hub centric spacers. Have yet to see any 4 lugs hub centric spacers that thin. But back to the first question, Why? Is he trying to put the correct offset Fuchs in the same location as the previous wheels that may have had the VW offset (= wrong offset ) ? |

http://www.tangerineracing.com/transmission.htm [/quote] Those are centering rings. I do not see any spacers. Those rings are needed if you want to make the rear hub centric to use hub centric spacers if they exist. |
