I saw this guage on ebay and had the thought of putting the temp meter part in place of my parking brake dummy light.
I'm pretty sure its possible, anyone know the ins and outs? or maybe getting a combi guage, pressure and temp, and putting the fuel in the console. hmmm. 911 guage |

I put in the 911 oil temp/oil pressure guage in the dash and the after market VDO fuel level guage in the console.
Nothing new. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) KT |

Been done, quite a few times. The trick is to get the right sender to match the gauge. Do a search here, and you'll find at least one chart showing all of the 911 gauge part numbers and their matching sender part numbers. The gauge part number is on the gauge itself.
The gauge in that auction doesn't look like a 911 gauge to me. The 911 gauges were rotated 90d from the 914 gauges, so the needles swung up and down, not side to side. The labelling on the gauge was also rotated to match this angle. That gauge MIGHT be a 912 gauge from a '69 or a '76 912E. The earlier 912 gauges had green labelling on a black background with more chrome accents, but all of them had an oil temp gauge (side to side swing) in a combo gauge with the G a oil lights, and a hand-brake warning light on the bottom. This would probably make a difference in what sender works. |

thanks, I'm thinking just putting the combi guage in there and the fuel in the console would be easy and cool. I knew someone would have already thought about this one.

i think the temp gauge was added/removed the brake warning light. if it was a factory oil temp gauge (not that factory gauge is a big deal) it would have a small red brake warning light

Actually, you'll find that the oil temp gauge in that combo gauge will fit into the e-brake position on your 914 gauge very nicely. The gauge units are modular and swap. No need to rig up another fuel gauge in the console. Like I said, however, getting a sender for that oil temp gauge is going to be a hurdle. |

Some 914's came with a combo Temp/Fuel gauge.
My 1974 2.0 had one (it did not come with the console). I have seen 914/6 gauges that were similar, but had some red shaded areas on the temp gauge. |

well i just made this
its a suby vdo gauge mounted in the brake light location, my later gauge ( 75 ) did not have a cut out for a module. so what i did was to drill and file a round opening to accept the gauge guts and epoxied it in. then i took a stock oil temp gauge and cut out the parts i wanted. then i made a new plastic back ground and glued the cut out parts on where i wanted |
