I bought mine at the cheapest supplier I could find.
I think there is only one supplier and he sells them to all the retail joints. |

they are great if you need them (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)
most people upgrade to these when the original units are in bad shape or when doing a total suspension upgrade to ensure everything is new...you might already have them if a PO installed them.... |

Make sure you get Lemforder brand turbo tie-rods. Not all turbo tie rod kits are top quality.

Yeah, sounds high. I think Pelican wants $150.

i think they're still trying to find their price point ... day to go - no bids...
i have been TOLD that the Lemforder use castle nuts and the 'cheap ones' use the Nylock nut on the tie rod end. there's allegedly a longevity issue with the rubber boots as well. i seem to have been sold a set of 'the cheap ones' by AJ-USA but i'm going to run them and see how they do. |

the stock tie rods use a rubber bush to connect the inner end to the steering rack. the Turbo inner link uses a monoball. less compliance, slightly more precise and direct steering. it will also transmit a bit more road 'feel' to the driver which can be a great thing on the track or a bit tiring for a long-distance street car on marginal roads. it *should* be a final, icing-on-the-cake upgrade done after all the big issues are resolved - bad ball joints, worn and improperly adjusted front bearings, bad dampers, worn upper strut bearings... but probably 90% are installed because of worn tie rods that need to be replaced anyway, so it becomes a "for only a little more" upgrade. if you are very, very careful at matching rod lengths it shouldn't affect your toe, but it'd be a good idea to have the alignment at least checked by someone who knows how and with the appropriate equipment. |

The $95 eadparts.com "turbo tie rod kit" is only for ONE side of the vehicle-- one tie rod and a boot. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) Have to buy two of these kits to get the entire kit that the bird has for $150.
