It looks like there is no way that I'm going to trust my 914 for the drive down from the SF Bay Area to the WCC this year....
Jeff Bowlsby has offered a spot in his car for the drive down (and back I hope, LOL), but if there is anyone driving from a further distance that might need to catch a few a z's I'd be willing to help take over driving dutys (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/MDB2.gif) |

What's wrong with your car Mike? Still having electrical issues? Get in there with a mulitmeter and fix em!
Someone could probably get you a spare relay board if that is still suspect, I know I have one somewhere. PS: My brakes seem to be working now. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

I own it (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) ...... I am taking this Thursday off to work on the car, but I don't feel all that confident in getting it ready for a 1000 mile road trip....heck, furthest I've gone is 33miles and both times AAA has towed my @ss back home (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) |

Mike, trailer your car down and back and just drive it there. If something goes wrong, there will be some of the best minds there to help you figure it out. You just wont be as happy without your car with you. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Tow dolly from U-Haul? Trailer from U-haul? I know you dont want to be an indian giver and we all want Felix to be there too, one of you should rent a trailer or dolly so you both can be there with your cars. On another note, at least you will be there and it really is about the people. I was just looking forward to seeing your car with the roller bearing suspension in it. |

cool...found the thread about making a flat-tow rig: flat towing a 914 and bugformance has the vw bug hitch for $60....will go pick one up and start (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welder.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sawzall-smiley.gif)
now I'll have to pray my truck makes it down there and back (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |

Darn I was going to borrow your truck too (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) If my swap has problems in the coming week (likely) I may not bring my car after all. Your trailer may become avail soon... I was looking into flat towing too but my bumper is f/g. This tow bar may still be avail. I "may" be riding with Chris and his monster truck and monster 914. That or we both may be driving down sans 914's. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) |

Give Brad a call and see if he's willing to give you a hand...I'm sure he can be bribed to help (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)
i'm 99% sure I can have my car up and running okay if I put my mind into it, it's just getting over the depressing fact that it's going to look like cr@p and not have any of the mods done to it that I've been talking about here for the last few months.... |

Who cares if it has mods if you can't drive it?
I have been trying to build a 2056 with megasquirt for 1.5 years now, has that happened yet, no, probably not anytime soon either... but I am still beating the hell out of my old 1.7. Take what you've got right now and run with it. Think of it this way, at least you will have your own running/driving 914 for the WCC, that is better than last year, right? |

Yeah, the blue car will be primered on the front half. It don't need to be pretty to run on the track! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
I'm stoked, I just traded the black car to the body shop down the street. All the paint & body on the blue car in exchange for the black one. Wooo Hooo! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rocking nana.gif) Only down side is that I won't be able to have it done before the WCC. |
