Mike,
I flat towed a 914 from Livermore to Portland behind an Audi A6 sedan. Hardly knew it was back there. I bought the car with the hitch included, but I think it was fabricated from a VW/dune buggy tow rig. I can post some pics if you like. It is pinned to two brackets bolted to the front trunk pan. The car also has a wire harness which plugs into a standard flat 4-pole connector. Tail, stop and signal lights all work when towing. Don't ask me how it is wired as I have no clue.
I believe John Beck, who is an active time-trialer in the Bay Area, put it together when he owned the 914. Maybe you know him?

Who cares if it has mods if you can't drive it?

I have been trying to build a 2056 with megasquirt for 1.5 years now, has that happened yet, no, probably not anytime soon either... but I am still beating the hell out of my old 1.7. Take what you've got right now and run with it. Think of it this way, at least you will have your own running/driving 914 for the WCC, that is better than last year, right?

yea, I guess you are right....I guess sometimes I fell like a total looser/idiot for saying I'm going to do this or that and it just doesn't happen as I'd like it to.....

yes, it would be much better to have my own 914 there.....not sure how many people actually believe I have a 914 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

I almost bought a hitch for my benz to go the flat tow route but then I would have to remove my f/g Chalon bumper/spoiler. I was also concerned about the 2000 lb hitch rating for my ~2600 lb V8 914... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)
