I was watching a Jay Leno's garage, and he had car on which was an old Honda s600 with a CBR 1000 RR motor in it.

I know the little legends, and midget race cars run bike engines as well, I would think a gutted 914 with 12k RPM mid engine set up would be a blast!

Anyone see one out there, or see it run?

Pretty sure you'll get the same response since the last time this was brought up...and the time before that and the time before that one.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

hi rpm engine's usually lack torque.

why reinvent the WHEEL?

why not do a suby or sbc v8?

that said, i am happy to see someone break their ass creating a unique ride : )

I think if you want to put the coin into it, it will definitely work. The Hayabusa engine is likely putting out as much torque as any of the original engines that were installed into the 914 cars, and Z Cars over in the UK is putting turbo busa motors into the lotus elise, which I believe weigh about as much as a 914 +/-

Lack of torque can be assisted with proper gearing. My little 1.3l rotary feels faster than my SBC at times.

'Quite mad,you know, putting powerful engines into lightweight cars.'
The syndrome known as a 'lack of imagination'.
'Why climb a mountain,if everything you need is close to you?'
My genes tell me to explore the next valley,or sea,so I must.
The gearbox is it.

I always Thought honda goldwing engine would
Be the go to conversion but apparently not
Because it isnt being done .

Id say if your a better driver then you can make
More of a high reving engine but 914 trans does
Make that difficult (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Mazda rx-8 wankle engine might be the ticket

total waste of time and money, way too many things that make this a wet dream concept truly.
There is a reason a bike motor works like it should and the same rule applys to a car engine ...unless you have a crazy light body to put it in ,the 914 misses out here.

'Crazy' Light, like the all-new latest CFRP,doors, trunknfrunklids, fenders(wings) and targatops.
Add cheap power from 2 17 yr-old's totaled bikes and build a camlocking chainbox.
The 2 spinning masses generate enough angular velocity to make the torque needed.
Making it work has to be fun,the pursuit of faster, like the rookie win at Indy, yesterday.
Get me some of the new 8614 Magnesium-SiliconCarbide matrix metal.
