Seriously?!?!?! I helped my Dad work on cars when I was young. I got hooked on Sports Cars around the age of 16. When I hit my early 20's I started looking for an MG to build up. Thank goodness I couldn't find one I could afford (Lucas, Prince of Darkness and all that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) and I found my 914 instead. That was a looong time ago and I've been a Gear Head ever since. Our local region has a small group of female drivers that regularly beat their male significant others at driving events. Last week I drove up to Oklahoma City (3 hours, one way, alone in my 914) to help teach at a Ladies only autocross the Warbonnet Region put on. They asked for our help - and instead of making fun of them, we dove in to support and encourage them. Too many times, I've run into the attitude, "Girls don't use tools"... or "You actually like cars? How unfeminine of you!". Why would I publicize something that might make people ridicule me? My personal favorite was at an SCCA autocross. Some guy had apparently told all of his male buddies to come watch him and he'd show them how it was done. Turns out some girl kicked his ass and won first place in the men's class (C Stock). Dude (or as I like to call his type "Dude without the E") had the nerve to make some crack as we were riding in the back of a truck to go out to work corners, that "girls shouldn't race with the guys". I still have the trophy and jacket I won in C Stock at that race. As a result of variations of that type of attitude - I tend to not publicize my "automotive leanings". Shortly after I got him, I asked my 914 if he cared if I had boobs or balls - he told me "I don't care, I just want to be driven around corners". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) You can think what you want, but we're out there - and we're not going to give somebody the time of day if we think we're going to get attitude. |

I for one would love to see you more active on the board posting just like one of the guys don't be a dud? ( In your own words,,,,) you're a 914 Enthusiast and you're welcome to share your experiences,, upside,,, down sides tastefully of course... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) .. I'm sure you could probably teach us a thing or two.

I love my wife, But....
The problem with having a wife that is a car person, especially a 914 person, is that she has, shall we say, opinions on what is best for her car. So over the years we have had rather spirited "discussions" about what is done to her car. That and I can't just slip things by her. She understands what I am buying when it comes to car parts. But it does make Christmas shopping easy!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

"Your 914 talks?"
Yep. He talks to me. Or at least I seem to be the one that can hear him the clearest when he talks; and he doesn't seem to want to talk much around other people. Clay says he can hear him too; just maybe not so much in actual words. I suspect Clay might be humoring me though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Although his (the car, not Clay) German accent is kind of faint by now because he's been in the states for 42 years now. Yep, definitely a 914 Enthusiast - you should see all of the 914 t-shirts, 914 jewelry, even the 914 Hot Wheels I've got on the wall in my cube at work. In real life I'm actually the shy retiring type and don't like posting that much on any type of board, but I don't hesitate to jump in when I feel like it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Yea, she is the shy type. She lurks quietly in the background until you least expect it, then WHAM! out of nowhere comes that verbal zinger that really messes with your mind. I love it! |
Cars are a dude thing. Love the ladies, but c'mon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)
Seriously?!?!?!
No.
You can think what you want, but we're out there - and we're not going to give somebody the time of day if we think we're going to get attitude.
This is what makes YOU awesome! Yes you can do anything you want. I have four sisters, all older, and no brothers. One of my sisters, an MD, rebuilt her Datsun motor in college, and came out of the closet as a motorcycle rider after I bought my bike at 15. Like you, my wife Cheryl used to race locally and some here still root for her to beat me. She beats me on looks, personality, friendliness, and I could go on and on. My apologies on wasting your time for me being a wise ass. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) |

Just look back and see how the ladies are "welcomed". It was a little embarrassing when CJ first posted here. I don't know if it was the the Horn Dogs or life that got in her way but she left. I, for one, would like to see a few more of the "fairer sex" hanging here and at our events. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Well one of our female members who posts here pretty much every day is having a birthday today. You could start by going to the Birthday Fairy Report and wishing her a happy birthday. Mrs. K (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) has been wishing you a happy birthday since your first birthday here on the world site and some of us, longer, back to the club days...
