Cruise to Yosemite Valley, last I checked it was $20 entry. May have gone up by now. The back route also has us going over the 9,600' pass.

June lake loop.

There are tons of great roads out there that will take some recon.

Hotel pricing isn't bad until mid June, into July.

How far is Stockton from our target area? I have a friend whose brother is a semi-famous chef with a restaurant there... It's fine dining, and we might be able to cut a deal. But if it's too far, then no.

We should do a gimmick rally for one of the drives too. Ala my photo rally at Tahoe in 2010.

Stockton is too far from the target area. Gimmick rally is a great idea.

I would like to develop a multi destination cruise. Example: we all start together and stop at a lunch break or photo opp. Half the group continues on a long ride, other half has a shorter ride to a destination. Then we all end up back at the hotel. Details need to be worked out but that's the basic idea.

I'm also thinking about starting on Wednesday for registration, with continued registration on Thursday. Maybe put together some kind of early event Thursday morning.

I spoke to Marty today and he is in for helping along with Djaden.

At Tahoe, I was shooting for a more family friendly thing. The photo rally was basically, a list of things that people should shoot a picture of if they saw it. Like a wooden animal or pine cone up, pine cone down. People seemed to have a great time with it. In fact, I think it was either Andrew or Rand? who got everything.

I digress. My thoughts for events to occupy the time are below.

1. Poker run
2. Mammoth Brewery
3. Bodie Ghost Town site visit (Possibly discuss with the Rangers about doing a photoshoot there?)
4. Visit Mono Lake
5. Visit Yosemite (Not yellowstone) valley floor, Possibly split off for a hike for those that want it? Some killer hikes/water falls in the area.
6. Glacier Point
7. Mariposa Giant Sequoias (If open)
8. Scouted drives that are recommended with routes for those with extra time
9. Casino time? Not sure if this.. Not my cup of tea...
10. I am not sure what is involved in a hill climb race, I imagine way more than possible and above our financial means, but maybe its something to look into?
11. Timed concourse style rally.


I think restraunts will take some research as well.

For those that are staying longer we could recommend a trip out to Murphy's either on their way up or back or on a boring day. There is a strip of winery tasting rooms and nice restaurants that would make for quite an interesting lunch/evening for a small group.

Jamestown is an old miners town and has some cool interesting history, Its on its way to/from Murphys.



Just spitballing idea's. Its an area packed full of roads. And I dont know anything about the Nevada side...

I heard the last 3 miles into Bodie is a gravel road. We will need to scout it out.

If its gravel then we pace the cars 200ft so no rock chips happen.

But it does look like your right. This may need to be optional, as I know I wouldnt want to miss it. Still would be cool if we could get the rangers to let us take some pictures.

Me either. I've got casinos all around me and I only go for the shows and restaurants.

Sure, We have a very inactive SIG. That is, a 914 Special Interest Group in PCA. Bob Saville on the East coast is the 914 SIG rep to the PCA. We can get PCA money and insurance if we run the event as a 914 SIG event. I can contact Bob and see what the requirements are. PCA would like very much for the SIG groups to be more active.

I will research it and get back to you. I think going forward, when we have a subtopic like PCA 914 SIG we should add a different topic in this forum. That is the way it is designed. So we can put "opening BBQ" etc...

By the way, as you can see, discussing plans for the event on the open forum gets you lots of "arm chair" planners who naysay your event but make no substantive contribution.
I'd say just avoid talking about the event on the public forum until we start to publically promote it for registration purposes.

I just heard from my buddy and Diablo PCA VP that Mammoth requires permits with the city for PCA events. If they see 30 or so 914's coming into town we might get some grief without a permit.
