Anyone know the Pertronix part # for their Ignitor electronic ignition for a 1.8L , L-Jet?
Having a hard time confirming. Original Distributor. (PP has it for sale but site doesn't specify for what car, just say 70-76) Thanks, Jason |

1847V I believe. But what I found is that the magnet does t fit down far enough on the shaft for the rotor to fit into the slot. Evidently you can get it to fit lower (I believe Clay Perrine said he got it to fit on his wife's car) but I broke the magnet by tapping a socket over it trying to get it further down the shaft.
It's literally been a year and some months since that happened. I just ordered a new magnet from Pertronix last week. I'm just going to sell mine here, as I believe it can be used for other 914 models as well. Pertronix does sell a unit that will work for the 1.8L. I think it's the Ignitor III. It doesn't need a magnet. Instead it senses when the lobe of the cam inside the distributor is near and fires then. I had some back and forth with Pertronix Tech support. Good to go using the stock coil, just won't have as high energy spark as one of the Pertronix coils. |

Thanks. Looks like 1847V is the Petronix number for the Ignitor, and 91874V for Ignitor II. Also, looks like the Ignitor III is only for 8 cylinder engines. They identify the compatible Bosch dizzy as 0-231-117-007.

I had the 1847v installed on my 74-1.8L and it worked great.(1 Month old.)
I have since bought a Mallory 454114. I can tell you the Mallory is the ticket, but its crazy expensive. If you need a distributor and the 1847 installed let me know. |

Jason Ignitor_Kit_Lookup.pdf ( 331.61k ) Number of downloads: 48 Yeah they're literature is a little misleading. It does say for an 8 cylinder, but what you're looking at is the COIL application chart. It's trying to tell you that if you're using an Ignitor III and have an 8 cylinder engine, you should use the 44001 or 44011 coil. It doesn't mean that the Ignitor III is only for 8 cylinder engines. I e-mailed them to confirm. Then I e-mailed them again because the chart said use those coils with an Ignitor III. Both of the coils listed (44001 and 44011) are oil filled and would need to be mounted upright. I didn't want to do that so asked if our current coil could be used. They said it could, it just wouldn't be creating the optimum amount of spark. |

Jason at Paragon sells these as well. I bet that if you call him, he will match or beat Pelican. That is where I got mine years ago.

No offense to Pelican, as I spend alot of $$$ with them, but Amazon has the Ignitor II 91874V at a better price, and free next day shipping if you have Prime.
You'd be surprised how many "common parts" Amazon has at great prices. Got a Bosch Blue Coil, best price found online, delivered SAME day. |
